Remotion has been involved in removal of several suction-anchors on the UK sector. The anchors had to be cut and a trencher was used to dig a trench around the anchor. When the trench around the anchor was completed, our Hercules magnetic robot equipped with abrasive cutting head was installed on the anchors. This then travelled around the anchors and performed a straight cut. This concept was developed by our engineers together with collaboration partners. No one has carried out similar cutting operations underwater before and for us and our partner this was a prestigious project where the job was carried out successfully.
While being first time on “deep-water”, Hercules did a very good job and showed to be a reliable robot also for this segment.
